The Vessel Project explores the concept of the vessel en mass by leading Naarm-based designers & sculptors.
Inset from the walls and broken in two places to create thoroughfares, the design allows viewers to enter and experience the works in the round and in their entirety. The shelf, envisioned as a ribbon of steel, folds and returns as needed, responding to both the artworks and the surrounding angular architecture. The ribbon dips to bring a particularly heavy and tall vessel to eye level, enhancing the viewer’s engagement with the piece.
